A beautiful brown and white Romantic style transferware plate. The central design is of a Turkish style castle on an island, a sail boat is on the water and a gentleman and lady are on the shore. The border has scenes of buildings surrounded with a floral design. The pattern is called "Marmora", and was made by William Ridgeway & Co. 1834-1854. The plate measures 10 1/4 inches across and is in very good condition. The plate has an old professional repair to a chip on the underside of the rim.. Click on photo for more detail.
