This very pretty small antique white ironstone tureen has "Cable" pattern handles with chain detail the continues on to the body. The "Cable" pattern supposedly commemorates the laying of the Trans-Atlantic cable in 1866. Made by Maddock & Sons, England, c. 1906. This set contains a covered tureen about 9 inches long handle to handle by 6 inches high to the top of the handle, an under plate that measures 9 1/2 inches long by 6 1/4 inches wide, and a ladle that is 7 inches long. The tureen is in very good condition with 2 glaze bubbles from the time of manufacture, some pin holes on the interior and a small spot discolored because of lack of glaze. All are factory defects. The under plate has some crazing and some manufacturing defects on the underside. The ladle appears to be of a different pattern and has some discoloration in the bowl (See inset photo). In very good condition. Click on photo for more detail.
