This large antique ironstone soup tureen is in the cable shape. It is thought that this shape was made to commemorate the laying of the trans-Atlantic cable in 1866.(White Ironstone by Stoltzfus & Snyder). Made by J & G Meakin c. 1870-1880. It measures 13 inches from handle to handle, 8 1/4 inches wide and 9 inches tall. Slight discoloration on the edges of the the handles and rim of the lid. Larger discolored spot on the bottom of the interior of the tureen. In very good condition. Click on photo for more detail.
