

This pair of black and white transferware plates was made by Wood & Challinor, Staffordshire, England. The scalloped edged plates are decorated with a scroll and floral border. The center shows a city by the river with a castle high up in the hills. The pattern is called "Verona". These plates date from 1828-1843 and measures 10 1/2 inches across. One plate has a small area of discoloration in the border pattern, and a small manufacturing flaw also on the rim which has discolored. The other plate has a 2 1/4 inch hairline crack which is not visible from the front. Otherwise they are in very good condition. Priced for the pair. Click on photo for more detail.
