This lovely antique purple transferware plate has an attractive scalloped rim. The Romantic style central design has an Asian style scene with a fountain in the foreground. The rim has floral decoration in two shades of purple. The pattern is called "Fountain Scenery". This piece was made either by William Adams or Samuel Alcock c.1840. The plate measures 10 1/2 inches. There are some small discoloration marks on the back and two very small spots on the side of the rim from the use of a metal plate hanger. Otherwise in very good condition.
